Turmeric is an amazing rhizome that has some important health benefits. I adore turmeric and use it in many of my recipes including both sweet and savory dishes. I especially enjoy using turmeric in many of my healing smoothie blends! I decided to put together some of my favorite recipes to show you how versatile turmeric is. Here’s my collection of 10 incredible turmeric recipes you must try! These recipes will have you using turmeric all the time!
Turmeric has a wonderful earthy flavor that blends well in a wide variety of different recipes. You can use turmeric in the fresh root form or as a dried spice powder. Turmeric’s health benefits are numerous and well documented.
I add turmeric to my smoothies, sauces, salad dressing, teas, tonics, curries, vegetables, eggs, beans, lentils, soups, and stews. If you want to make sure you are reaping all the health benefits of turmeric, please buy either the fresh root or an organic turmeric powder. This is my favorite one.
I also use the organic turmeric capsules as a supplement on a daily basis. Here’s a really good organic turmeric capsule that contains Bioperine® which is a compound found in black pepper. Piperine or Bioperine® increases the absorption of curcumin by 2000%.
Turmeric contains the active ingredient curcumin, which is a potent antioxidant, liver detoxifier, and anti-inflammatory. Curcumin has been shown to produce the same anti-inflammatory effects of the drug ibuprofen without the side effects associated with this drug.
