  2. Is there a difference between hot chocolate and hot cocoa, or is that just a keyword thing? Either way, you’ve put me in the mood for some.

  4. I think of hot chocolate as my ‘happiness in a mug’ and really enjoyed these different and wonderful recipes. Although I don’t have it often, my all time favorite version is to use full-fat raw organic milk with both chocolate and cocoa, low sugar, and bit of vanilla, topped with real whipped cream….mmm-mmm!
I’ll be sharing your post on my blog. Thanks for this fun holiday post!

  6. Thanks for the recipes. Our daughter absolutely loves hot chocolate. Unfortunately, she prefers Starbucks to all others. We could have used this post on Christmas morning. 🙂 We will definitely try a couple of these to recipes. Happy New Year.

  7. Hi Shelley ,
reading your post took me back into my childhood.
My mother used to make hot chocolate from scratch, will real milk that still had the cream settle on the top. She cooked it on the stove and it took a while but the result was yummy.

Thank for sharing the varieties of hot chocolates.

  10. This was right on time. As I just finished with some homemade chocolate. You ideas are amazing and it will benefit me and my taste buds.

I did not see vanilla chai on this list. That is a chocolate and tea mix with cinnamon, nutmeg. Now, this is something I can drink each day.

Nice post and I will return.

  11. Yum :). Your recipe for the superfoods spicy hot chocolate sounds amazing! I’ve only made a VERY basic hot chocolate with rice milk and raw cacao powder. That’s it. The rice milk is sweet enough that nothing else is needed. I think coconut milk would be yummy (and creamier) as well.

  13. These sound VERY yummy. My favourite hot chocolate drink has marshmallows on top. I think the most important thing about hot chocolate, is that it’s REALLY hot! Have you noticed when you have hot chocolate at a cafe, it’s often just lukewarm? Much nicer when we make it at home!
