Energizing Cherry Cashew Chia Smoothie

My energizing cherry cashew chia smoothie is so delicious! Sweet and lush dark cherries are combined with creamy cashews, chia seeds, and tender baby spinach for a nutrient-dense drink rich in antioxidants, phytochemicals, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and fiber. I can’t get enough of this smoothie’s creamy goodness! I drink smoothies every single day for either breakfast or a snack and they make me feel energized, strong, focused, and ready to take on the world!


The chef in me loves creating different delectable smoothie combinations that tantalize and satisfy my taste buds. I use a variety of different ingredients including fruits, leafy greens, vegetables, avocados, nuts, seeds, herbs, spices, rolled oats, cooked quinoa, green and herbal teas, water kefir, kombucha tea, and juices. I also love adding in potent exotic superfoods like raw cacao, chia, hemp, acai berries, maqui berries, camu berries, goji berries, chlorella, spirulina, and maca root to make my smoothies even more nutrient-rich and nourishing. Smoothies are such a great way to enjoy lots of fantastic plant foods in one flavor-packed colorful drink.


I love green smoothies the best over all my other blends! Green smoothies can help you easily eat large amounts of leafy greens, vegetables, and fruits without having to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. If you’re looking for a simple way to eat more fruits and vegetables, green smoothies are the way to go. When making your smoothies always make sure you start with high quality fresh whole foods. I prefer organic and local whole foods as my first choice for using in my recipes. Rotate your greens and superfoods daily for a wide range of nutrients.

Energizing Cherry Cashew Chia Smoothie



Energizing Cherry Cashew Chia Smoothie

Vegan, Paleo, Sugar-Free, Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free

Makes 2 servings

1 ½ cups frozen pitted dark cherries

1 orange-peeled and cut in half

2 cups organic baby spinach

2 tablespoons chia seeds

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

3 cups vanilla cashew milk (recipe follows)


1. Place all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!

Note: You can substitute 3 cups of purified or spring water and 2 tablespoons of cashew butter if you don’t want to make the vanilla cashew milk. If doing this add the dates and vanilla extract to the smoothie with the other ingredients.


Vanilla Cashew Milk

Vegan, Paleo, Sugar-Free, Dairy-Free, Gluten-Free

Makes around 4 cups

1 cup raw cashews (soaked for 2 hours if possible)

3 cups purified or spring water

3 pitted Medjool dates

⅛ teaspoon Himalayan pink salt or unrefined sea salt

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract


1. Place all ingredients for cashew milk in a high speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Strain with a nut bag or fine mesh strainer for a smoother texture. Milk lasts for 3-5 days covered in the refrigerator.

    • I hear you Holly! I love both smoothies and eating food that I have to chew too! Smoothies are a really fabulous way to pack a lot of nutrients into one easy to make drink and the taste is so good! After I have it for breakfast I move on to foods that I can chew like fish, salads, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds etc.

    That was the catch for this reader. I love your shares with helping us keep our temples strong. I have tasted most smoothies. I must say, they make me hold my breath while slamming them down. I gave up!

    Now, I am open minded. So, we will give this one a try later this week. Saturday, I will be going out to pick up fresh stuff. Then, we will see.

    as always I appreciate the wonderful information and recipes you are sharing so generously.
    I am looking forward to cherries being in season again (it is winter here).
    What would be your suggestion if I would want to replace the spinach with spirulina? How many teaspoons?
    Soaked cashews are so yummy and provide a natural anti depresseant.
