Hi, I’m Shelley Alexander a holistic chef, certified healing foods specialist, cookbook author, recipe developer, and food writer. I have always had a great love for eating delicious, locally grown, seasonal foods in their natural state. I grew up in Ohio eating ripe, juicy, vegetables and fruits fresh from my grandparents’ extensive garden and the local farmer’s markets.
I truly love the vivid colors, tantalizing aromas, delicious flavors, and fabulous textures of whole foods! I feel a great sense of satisfaction and happiness whenever I cook and enjoy a wonderful meal of healing whole foods. Each meal gives me the chance to celebrate in the amazing bounty of delectable foods that makes me feel great and fills my body with energy, strength, immunity, and peace.
My passion for healthy foods that taste delicious and heal the body is why I decided to become a holistic chef and certified healing foods specialist. I create recipes using traditional, nutrient-rich, healing whole foods which nourish and help restore the body’s own natural healing abilities.
I also have a culinary diploma in culinary arts from The Los Angeles Culinary Institute in Encino, California.
This holistic and culinary foundation is complemented by a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and Finance from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. I’m also certified as a Food Safety Manager by The National Registry of Food Safety Professionals®.
I have over 16 years of work experience in the food industry. This experience includes Executive Chef Positions with a variety of top catering and event planning companies in Los Angeles along with working as the Executive Chef for The Stinking Rose Restaurant, a 400-seat restaurant in Beverly Hills, California.
I also have experience running my own successful catering and event planning company, Escapade Events, from 1997 to 2008. This company provided global cuisine and event services to a wide variety of clients including top charities and corporations.
I started my new company A Harmony Healing in 2010. The concept for this Holistic Food, Nutrition, and Wellness Company was created when I experienced weight gain, digestion, and energy issues and healed my body using holistic healing methods and traditional, organic, nutrient-rich healing whole foods and whole food supplements. The success of my own healing and gift of radiant health encouraged me to use my knowledge, joy, and passion to help empower people to make optimal nutrition and holistic lifestyle choices to achieve their own healing and experience vibrant health.
A Harmony Healing is located in Los Angeles, California and provides healing nutrition and lifestyle consultations, anti aging consultations, workshops, company health seminars, healthy cooking classes, Alcat Testing, radiance wellness parties, and holistic supper club events to a wide variety of clients.
My company hosts different events and food demonstrations at top natural food stores throughout Southern California including Erewhon Natural Foods Market and Whole Foods Market.
I also host food tastings and create healing foods recipes for many top whole foods companies including Vivapura, Rejuvenative Foods, O Olive Oil, Zhena’s Gypsy Tea, Manitoba Harvest, Foods Alive, Wholesome Sweeteners, and Navitas Naturals.
My first healing foods cookbook Deliciously Holistic will be published in April 2013.
I started my healing foods and holistic lifestyle blog in October 2011 so I could share lots of my favorite healing foods recipes and holistic lifestyle tips. I personally eat lots of plant foods so many of the recipes will feature vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and some sprouted whole grains. I also will be sharing some recipes that feature sustainable wild seafood, organic pastured dairy, and pastured eggs because I eat them too.
