3 Energizing Smoothie Shots with Organic Greens

3 Energizing Smoothie Shots with Organic Greens

I’m always looking for the best ways to have my whole foods recipes provide maximum health benefits in the simplest way possible for busy people that don’t have a lot of time to spend in the kitchen. That’s why I created three delicious energizing smoothie shots recipes with Dr. Mercola’s Organic Greens superfoods supplement powder. These smoothie shots are really nutrient-dense and so easy to make! When you have limited time and want to eat well to fuel your busy lifestyle superfoods smoothies are the way to go.

I’m launching supercharged smoothies classes in San Diego in 2016 so I have been hard at work creating and testing lots of new smoothie recipes made with delicious healing foods and writing down my best smoothie secrets and tips to teach in my classes. I’ve had a blast enjoying all the tasty smoothie combos and I can’t wait to teach how to make the recipes and share my best tips with all of you in my classes! When Dr. Mercola’s team discovered what I was working on for my new classes, they graciously provided me with their Organic Greens supplement powder and lots of other superfoods for me to test my recipes with! I have enjoyed trying all of their fantastic, high quality products in my recipes but the Organic Greens supplement is really my personal favorite! If you want to purchase Dr. Mercola’s Organic Greens visit his site here.

Dr Mercola's Organic Greens Supplement
When I choose a green superfoods supplement powder to use in my recipes it’s important to me that this green powder is organic, nutrient-dense, gluten-free, non-gmo, has no extra fillers, no artificial sweeteners, no overpowering green taste and is easy to use. Dr. Mercola’s Organic Greens supplement powder meets all of my criteria and has some special ingredients that I have not found in other superfood powders.   Organic Greens supplement contains a powerhouse of nature’s top green superfoods in an all organic blend including leafy greens, vegetables, grasses, chlorella, spirulina, cordyceps, reishi, himematsutake, shitake, maitake, and turkey tail mushrooms, matcha green tea, maca root powder, apple powder, and rhodiola powder.

Here’s a snapshot of the label for you to check out all the nutrient-dense organic ingredients that are included in this green blend.

This powder comes in a compact container with a small scoop included that you can use to add the powder into your recipes. The container has 60 servings in it and the price is only $29.97 which is much more economical than many of the other organic green superfood supplement powders that are available for sale.

I love the vibrant dark green color of this powder! I like taking some of the powder in a packet in my purse so I can blend a scoop into water, herbal teas, coconut kefir, kombucha tea, or fresh juices whenever I’m thirsty and need to have a satisfying, nutrient-rich drink on the go. Having it available keeps me from getting tempted to drink unhealthy drinks or eat junk foods when I’m running around the city plus it helps me increase my daily intake of vegetables, leafy greens, mushrooms, antioxidants, and adaptogens which all work to together to help boost my energy and support my health and wellness! Now that you know why I like using Dr. Mercola’s Organic Greens let’s get to my smoothie shots recipes. Normally when I make smoothies I make at least 28-32 ounces. This time I wanted to create a smoothie that is small in size but has an extremely concentrated source of superfoods to fuel your body. These three smoothie shots are great to enjoy for a mid morning or afternoon snack or a on the go drink to give you that boost of energy you need to stay focused and complete your daily activities with ease!   These small shots are very potent and a great introduction into drinking green smoothies. Plus the Organic Greens powder are a convenient way to give you all the nutrition from green leafy vegetables, algae, grasses, and green tea without the strong green taste that some people find difficult to get used to when they first try adding blended greens and green superfoods powders into their smoothies.

I really like making different versions of these shots with all types of nut or seed milks, coconut water, kombucha tea, coconut water kefir, and a variety of fruits and superfood boosters. I hope you enjoy trying my three energizing smoothie shots and use my recipes as guideline to create your own fabulous blends! Have you ever tried using green superfoods powders in your recipes? 1. Hi Shelley,

You never cease to amaze me with all the goodies you come up with. This looks amazing. When ever I have powdered superfoods, what happens is they just get pushed in the back of the frig…forever.
This sure has given me a better outlook and much more incentive to get back on track. Thanks so much!

  4. Shelley,

Last week I watched an 11 episode series called “The Truth About Cancer”. If I have ever doubted the health benefits of good organic smoothies, my doubts were forever ended. They interviewed some leading cancer research medical doctors, authors, alternative health practitioners and every one talked about how their patients healed even Stage IV cancers through megadoses of vitamins, herbs, smoothies and a few additional techniques such as Ozone therapy, infrared saunas, coffee enemas, etc. The key message I received is to start now – immediately – to make sure I am providing adequate and abundant nutrients for my system to function well. Thank you for sharing this simple yet important information. And your images are so appealing that it makes it easy to say “I can and I want to do this.”

    Warmly,

    Dr. Erica

  5. Smoothies are my standard breakfast, and sometimes lunch. I used to make them with whey protein, plain yogurt, frozen berries and maybe a half a banana. But it’s almost impossible to find a whey protein that doesn’t contain the wrong kind of sweeteners (or, better, without any — it’s not like it needs it!) And I’m not so sure yogurt is good for me. I’m learning lots of other things that can be added, and you’ve just given me some more ideas! I have a good, nicely flavoured greens powder now, but Dr Mercola’s looks great!

    • Willena, I’m so glad to hear that you are enjoying smoothies for breakfast! Just make sure to purchase a brand of organic grass fed whey and organic yogurt without sugar added to use in your smoothies and mix up the ingredients so you have a variety of different nutrients. Once you finish your green powder you can check out Dr. Mercola’s brand and I hope you like it as much as I do!

  9. All 3 of your smoothie recipes sounded great! I also liked the idea of it being a “shot” size. Or for the days that I would want to just enjoy it (or savor 🙂 ) to make a larger size.
    Thank you for sharing!

  10. I can live off the Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie !

May feeling was that seeing all the people choosing green stuff and holding their breath just to swallow. Was not a great way to have me ever drink green. Now, this is something I am willing to choose.

I pray it will taste as good as it’s looks.

  11. Hi Shelley,

Your “Strawberry Dragonfruit Kombucha Tea Smoothie Shot” definitely caught my eye. Soaking the dragonfruit in kombucha sounds like a great idea. Have you soaked other fruits in kombucha when making smoothies?

  18. Hello Shelley,
I contacted you a few days ago but I never heard back from you. If you did not receive my previous email, I’ll briefly explain here

I just came across your blog aharmonyhealing.com and really enjoyed your post 3 Energizing Smoothie Shots with Organic Greens It was really well written and I think your advice is the kind of thing more people need to hear and follow 😉

  19. Thank you for the nice recipes, I am a healthy smoothie lover, usually put a lot of greens in my smoothie, the supplement I have been using is the perfect fermented kale since it is rich in vitamin K and many other vitamins. The best part about it is that it doesn’t taste bad. This is probably the reason why I can consume it for so long.
